All Kinds of Minds

Well, I think I am going to use this blog to describe the struggles and joys we have homeschooling a son with learning differences. There are so many ups and downs and I am sure it will help me to get this all out. This has affected our whole family! I know we will get through this as I can do all things through Christ.
Our sweet son is 8 years old. At this point we know that he has Dyslexia and Dysgraphia. He is making great strides, but it is a slow process. I keep waiting for a quick fix or an a ha moment so I will know exactly how to teach him, but I know that will not be coming. We will keep on working until we get it right. Or at least on the right track. Anyway, more will come this week as I get some extra time (what is that?)

We can't just do Cub Scouts

Well, we are just crazy around here.... Our sweet daughter has decided that she wants to be a Brownie. So far all she has asked is, "When can I sell cookies?" So guess who is our cookie coordinator? You guessed it! Me!
Anyway, I am sure she will have a great time in scouts. We bought her uniform three days after her first meeting. She has been going to Cub Scout meetings for two years, so she knew there was a uniform involved in this and she wanted the full deal. (including that beanie!)
Isn't she precious!

Our New Puppy Pics

Our New Puppy Pics
Well we have had a crazy couple of weeks, but I am back at the computer. I don't know who is cuter in this picture! My sweet son or our new puppy! His name is Tiger (the dog, not my son) and he is a great dog! If we can teach him to use the restroom outside he will be a perfect dog. He is a three and a half month old Sheltie and already weighs 15 pounds! He may be on the large side....

Los Vaqueros Locos!

We have been really busy lately and fell off of the blog wagon :) We started out our summer with an AWESOME week at a family camp in Tyler, Texas. It was a wonderful way to start the summer. We had an incredible week at camp!
Here are some pictures: They will not do this place justice. Go to www.pinecove.com and see for yourself. My prayer is that we will be able to go year after year. We met some great new friends and had a TON of fun! This picture is from our first theme night of the week. Los Vaqueros Locos (the crazy cowboy). It was an awesome night that included a rodeo! Of course we have one that wont comply... Matthew wouldn't wear his bandana or sombrero when I wanted him to....

Matthew likes the sombrero in the room, but wanted nothing to do with it when I wanted a picture. Oh well, the life of a rebellious 2 year old. :)

He had a great time at camp. His counselors spoiled him by rocking him to sleep for naps. When we got home he said , "I rock you mommy?"

Well, I have got to go get Elizabeth at VBS. I will write more about our week at camp. I had no idea God could use a vacation the way He did!

More Longhorn Craziness
Well we are sure proud of our Longhorns. We had a little fun with the van! I better post this soon so we can get our schoolwork done. We are just a little off schedule today and I am not sure the Principal would go for a day off to celebrate the National Championship! Although he should have some sympathy since the teacher is tired!

Have a great day everyone!

The New Semester

Well the new year is here and so is a new semester of school. We started off strong with a new schedule and a new Math program for Elizabeth. We had school yeaterday and today. Mark is home today and I think he now sees how crazy it can get around here.... He helped Elizabeth with her Math and Bailey with his reading. The hardest thing to do is keep Matthew busy. He likes to have a playmate. Our new schedule has a child playing with Matthew while I am teaching the other child. We are also trying to rotate some toys so he will stay interested. His favorite is always the trains.

Christmas Eve Service

Christmas Eve 2005
We went to the Christmas Eve service with all the children as we did not have childcare. Bailey and Elizabeth enjoy going to church. Bailey was excited because he could now have the Lord's Supper. (he was baptized earlier in the year) Matthew liked the singing and added his own dance moves... His favorite part was lighting the candles and singing Silent Night. He kept blowing out my candle and having me relight it. He really liked the end when we all hold our candles out to show our "lights" shining for Jesus.
